With Memorial Day coming up, that means Summer is right around the corner. As we celebrate with outside barbeques surrounded by family and friends, let’s not forget about the importance of Memorial Day. This day honors and mourns those who have lost their lives serving for our country in the United States Armed Forces. To kick off Summer, we wanted to share 3 tips on how to keep your employees engaged this summer.
1. Set a goal and reward your employees.
Schedule time with employees, whether in person or via video chat, to go over their goals for this summer and determine an appropriate reward if they meet their goal. Examples include a company lunch or outing, gift card of choice, coffee on the company, half-day or a full day off. This way employees are constantly working towards their goal with the intention of being rewarded at the end of the season.
2. Plan a summer event calendar.
Send employees a summer event calendar so they have something to look forward to throughout the season. Examples include scheduling happy hours, virtual team lunches, a picnic in the park, ice cream socials, and team games.
3. Encourage vacation days.
Last summer employees did not take their vacation days because travel was limited due to the pandemic. While travel is still limited, more and more people are getting out and about after being vaccinated. This summer encourage employees to take their well-deserved vacation days even if it is just to Netflix and chill.
The summer months can feel long and hot (especially in Georgia) but don’t let that discourage employees. Determine a game plan on how to keep employees engaged so they do not experience burnout or decreased performance levels.
